Cisco, Apple settle iPhone lawsuit

Cisco Systems Inc. and Apple Inc. said Wednesday they have settled the trademark-infringement lawsuit that threatened to derail Apple’s use of the “iPhone” name for its much-hyped new iPod-cellular phone gadget.

NEW YORK – Apple Computer and Cisco have settled their dispute concerning the use of the name iPhone. The companies agreed that both could use the concerned name on their products. Cisco had sued Apple for infringing its copyright on the name, which came into its possession after the company had acquired Infogear in 2000.
